Health technology company Seqster on Thursday announced the launch of its new 1-Click Sites platform with BioIVT as its first deployment partner.
This tool allows clinical sites to share electronic health record (EHR) data with patient consent with clinical trial sponsors. Each site or network using this platform receives its own FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant research portal where Seqster manages data aggregation, automated eligibility screening, and ongoing monitoring. Organizational locations can use the platform as a complete research hub or strategic referral center, according to the announcement.
Seqster CEO and co-founder Ardy Arianpour said in an interview with Fierce Healthcare that the launch “removes barriers” for systems seeking to engage in clinical research.
“Clinical research is really about understanding the entire patient journey,” Ariampour says. “Traditional site enablement approaches required months of IT setup, custom EHR integration for interoperability, … contracts and significant capital investment. Our platform completely eliminates that.”
Arianpour said the company’s better results will be based not only on how quickly it can provide long-term health data, but also on “how quickly it can stand up end-to-end solutions” to turn clinical sites into “researchable data collection points.”
The 1-Click Sites platform will give organizations access to data sharing “within days,” according to the announcement.
“We connect the dots not just with data, but with patients, as well as recruiting and activating facilities in a way that is seamless for both researchers and patients,” Ariampour said.
In expanding the platform with BioIVT, Arianpour said one of the goals of the partnership is to leverage data for drug discovery and development. “If you have data from a patient’s biospecimen, you get a complete picture of the patient,” Ariampour says.
Jake Maxwell, BioIVT’s vice president of corporate development, said in the announcement that the technology allows for better tracking of test results and outcomes across the therapeutic spectrum, “giving us greater insight into how treatments are delivered in the real world.”
“We look forward to working with SEQSTER to leverage more complete and connected patient data to enhance drug development and drive better, more informed decision-making,” said Maxwell.
Founded in 2016, the healthtech startup develops tools for real-time access to longitudinal and comprehensive healthcare data, both at the patient level and at scale. This includes EHRs, pharmacy data, laboratory data, genomic data (DNA), fitness wearable data, and social determinants of health (SDOH) information.
“The whole premise was to put the patient at the center of healthcare,” Ariampour said.
In March, Seqster also launched 1-Click DataLake, a real-world data platform aimed at accelerating research design, recruitment, and evidence generation. It includes data from more than 150 million de-identified patients and 200,000 clinicians across the United States.
Arianpour said the launch of 1-Click Sites completes the company’s “five core products” for healthcare and life sciences.
“That’s what’s really exciting,” Ariampour said. “And[the products]all work in conjunction with each other, because in order to deploy a platform for 1-Click sites, you need to be able to capture the data. And there’s no way this would be possible at the leading companies in this space without building specific tools to standardize and harmonize data on the backend.”
