Nearly a year after Kennedy ousted Monares as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over vaccine policy, senators are pressing whether the administration’s new nominee to head the CDC will face a similar fate and how he will respond to what many characterized as political interference by Kennedy at the agency.
Candidate Erica Schwartz repeatedly pushed back on the question, but declined to say whether she would stand up to the health secretary.
