Karoo Health, a values-based cardiology company, has secured $16.2 million in a Series A funding round to strengthen its partnerships with health plans and cardiac practices.

Allumia Ventures and 7wire Ventures co-led the round, with participation from First Trust Capital Partners, LLC, SpringRock Ventures, Hyde Park Angels (HPA) and other major investors.

According to the company, Karoo Health has developed an artificial intelligence-native cardiovascular platform designed to connect payers, healthcare providers, and patients through integrated data and workflow layers that support early risk detection and improved overall cardiovascular disease outcomes.

“The challenge in cardiovascular care today is not a lack of innovation, but a system that is too fragmented to deliver consistently,” Lee Shapiro, managing partner at 7wire Ventures, said in a statement. “This fragmentation is exactly the kind of problem that the right technology can solve. Karoo is creating a connectivity layer that enables healthcare teams to act on the holistic picture of each patient, and its implementation is already delivering significant reductions in avoidable usage and costs. We are proud to co-lead this round.”

The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based technology company’s goal is to “free people from the pain of cardiovascular disease at scale” through early detection, improved care coordination and delivery.

Karoo plans to use the funding to further develop its platform and expand its engineering and clinical teams.

Executives say the company currently supports a network of more than 600 cardiologists across 11 states. The implemented program has been reported by independent analyzes to have reduced emergency department visits and hospitalizations by more than 40%, and initial results show that total healthcare costs have been reduced by more than 10% across the imputed target population.

Ian Coons, CEO and co-founder of Karoo Health, said in a statement that the country is at a “pivotal time” in the fight against cardiovascular disease.

“We will use this capital to take another major step toward solutions that give all Americans access to earlier, more coordinated and more effective cardiovascular care,” said Kuhn.
