good morning. At a bar in Cambridge on Saturday, I saw a couple who appeared to be straight huddled around a TV showing basketball while a more queer-coded crowd lingered on another soccer broadcast. I don’t think there was anything really going on, but it was fun.
This “never-happening event” is happening more frequently
Children born with congenital syphilis can suffer dire consequences such as bone deformities, brain damage, blindness, and hearing loss. But as public health officials say, that should “never happen” and pregnant people can receive penicillin injections to prevent infection. For some reason, the rates just keep going up. Between 2012 and 2024, there was an 800% increase in babies born with the disease in the United States. And the drug has been in short supply since last year.
