Viz.ai, an artificial intelligence-powered disease detection and care coordination platform, announced Thursday that it is partnering with Cortechs.ai, a platform for neuroimaging and quantitative analysis solutions, to expand its coverage of neurodegenerative diseases.

The partnership will expand the company’s Viz Neuro Suite with an initial focus on multiple sclerosis (MS). Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis with Cortechs.ai’s NeuroQuant MS integrates directly into care coordination workflows.

Viz.ai’s chief medical officer, Dr. Tim Showalter, told Fierce Healthcare in an emailed statement that MS is the “starting point” for the Viz Neuro Suite.

“But we think this is the beginning of a broader effort against neurodegenerative diseases,” Showalter said. “We are building a foundation that will enable us to expand into additional diseases where earlier detection, better care coordination, and faster treatment can improve patient outcomes.”

Showalter said AI can help clinicians derive “meaningful insights” into neurological diseases more quickly, ultimately getting information to specialists faster.

“Neurological diseases have long been among the most difficult to diagnose because symptoms appear gradually, vary widely from patient to patient, and can overlap with other diseases,” he said. “Even when imaging is available, subtle changes can be difficult to detect and interpret consistently. Combining quantitative MRI analysis with treatment adjustment can reduce delays, support more informed treatment decisions, and help patients start appropriate treatment sooner.”

Additionally, Showalter said the expansion represents a “significant evolution” for the platform, adding that it is consistent with the company’s broader trajectory.

“Viz.ai was built on a foundation in neurovascular care, including stroke, but has since expanded into cardiology, oncology, and other specialties,” he said. “This partnership extends the same strategy: applying our expertise in AI-powered care coordination to new areas of complex disease and increasing clinical impact for more patients.”

The company says further partnerships and products focused on neurodegenerative diseases are planned in the “near future.”

The partnership is the latest announcement from the AI-powered disease detection and care coordination platform in recent months.

In May, Viz.ai released the Viz Pulmonary Suite to help healthcare organizations streamline care. It helps treat major lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary nodules, and pulmonary embolism.

And in April, we announced a partnership with the National Rural Health Association to expand the understanding and access of AI across rural healthcare settings.

In late March, the company also rolled out Viz Agent Studio. The company says it is the first agent platform for health systems to build and deploy their own customizable care pathways.

Since the company’s launch in 2016, its platform has been deployed in 2,000 hospitals across the country, covering “two-thirds” of the country’s population, CEO and co-founder Chris Mansi, MD, told Fierce Healthcare.
