Sapio Sciences, an AI lab informatics company, today announced that Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s agent AI assistant, has been integrated into the Sapio platform through AI co-scientist Sapio Elain. This integration provides a single conversational interface for scientists and project leaders to search, retrieve, and analyze data held across their R&D organization and take actions directly within Sapio ELN and LIMS.

Working autonomously on your behalf, Claude Cowork searches across data sources, collates results, and returns verified, structured output, reports, and dashboards. Connected to the Sapio platform, Claude Cowork can also perform actions on your behalf to manipulate ELN experiments and LIMS processes and data. When executed, all actions are attributed to the requesting user and are performed with full traceability.

Sapio Elain is an AI co-scientist within the Sapio platform, making every interaction smarter for scientists in the field. Claude acts as an extension of Elain’s capabilities, opening new reporting and analysis possibilities and enabling action on data across your organization. Together, we can provide our customers with AI that works at every level of their organization from a single prompt. ”

Kevin Kramer, CEO and Founder, Sapio Sciences

Meeting the needs of scientists and project leaders

For scientists, this eliminates a critical bottleneck in the research process. Questions that spanned multiple processes or experiments typically required multiple searches, manual data exports, and time spent waiting for computational support for analysis. Claude Cowork answers these questions with a single prompt that captures, collates, and analyzes your entire Sapio data environment.

Project leaders and team managers will find it equally valuable by providing visibility into their entire program without logging into the platform. Claude Cowork provides on-demand visibility from a single question, from the real-time status of your project to whether experiments are complete and where bottlenecks are.

Access R&D intelligence from a single prompt

When connected to the Sapio platform through Sapio Elain, Claude Cowork returns validated and structured outputs such as dashboards, HTML reports, and study summaries. An example use case is:

    • Cross-experiment analysis: Find all experiments related to a specific molecule, compare synthesis conditions across runs, determine which approach gave the best yield, and uncover the optimal parameters for your next experiment.
    • Project data analysis: Capture all activity data for a specific target or project, perform SAR trend analysis across a compound series, and return a structured summary of the most promising candidates to progress.
    • Program and project tracking: From a single prompt, you can see in real time how your program is doing, which experiments are completed, which experiments are stalled, and which team members have outstanding tasks.
    • Compliance and Lab Operations: Report on overdue and unsigned experiments, generate reagent inventory reports with reorder and expiration alerts, and create KPI dashboards across active projects.
    • Compound registration and platform actions: Register compounds directly to the Sapio platform from the SDF file provided via email by your CRO. All with full traceability.

Rob Brown, Vice President and Head of Scientific Affairs at Sapio Sciences, commented: “Scientists and project leaders spend a significant amount of time searching for information that already exists across their organizations. Whether the data resides across experiments and teams, or is buried in emails, Claude Cowork makes it possible to find, analyze, and act on data in a single conversation. This is a meaningful change in the way R&D teams operate every day.”

Customers can also connect Sapio Elain to supported AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT, giving organizations the flexibility to use their preferred tools.
