Insilico Medicine (“Insilico” HKEX:3696), a leader in clinical stage generation AI for drug discovery, today announced a strategic collaboration agreement with Takeda to advance the development of drug candidates across the company’s therapeutic areas using its proprietary end-to-end platform, Pharma.AI.
The collaboration aims to identify clinically differentiated drug candidates that represent promising therapeutic targets. Using advanced generative models from the early stages of design, the team aims to improve the quality of candidate molecules and optimize them to achieve best-in-class efficacy and safety standards.
Under the agreement, Insilico will lead AI-powered discovery to identify molecules that meet predefined scientific and early development criteria, while Takeda will leverage its global development capabilities to advance selected candidates through clinical validation.
“We are excited to partner with one of the top leaders in the biopharmaceutical industry with significant capabilities in generative AI,” said Dr. Alex Zhavoronkov, Founder, CEO, and CBO of Insilico Medicine. “As we deepen the integration of generative AI into every step of the pharmaceutical value chain, I believe that the future of pharmaceutical superintelligence has the potential to deliver the highest quality and differentiated medicines. This is a fundamental step in our journey towards extending healthy productive lives.”
By combining Takeda’s deep disease biology expertise with Insilico’s AI-powered discovery capabilities, the collaboration aims to provide patients with meaningful treatment options by identifying clinically differentiated treatments. The partnership will also support Takeda’s transition to an AI-native exploration model as it integrates automation, robotics, and generative AI to more efficiently advance high-quality candidates. ”

Under the agreement, Insilico will receive approximately $60 million in project initiation fees, short-term payments and milestones, and will be eligible for success-based preclinical, clinical, commercial and sales milestone payments, which could bring the total transaction value to approximately $600 million, with the possibility of tiered royalties on future sales.
The agreement grants Takeda exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize selected novel therapeutics through the collaboration.
