GoodRx on Wednesday announced the launch of GoodRx Companion, a subscription program that provides access to virtual healthcare services and prescription drugs at discounted prices.
Through the $14.99 monthly GoodRx Companion subscription, users have access to free and low-cost generic drugs, online medical visits, and additional medical services. The company says this new subscription advances its strategy by adding a broader range of services in addition to weight loss, erectile dysfunction and hair removal programs.
The company says more than 200 generic drugs are available for free through its telemedicine platform, and “hundreds more” are sold for less than $10 at pharmacies nationwide. Telehealth visits address common health conditions such as the flu, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and more for $19 through GoodRx Companion.
Members are also eligible for savings on dental care, vision care, general exams and imaging services.
The company says the subscription service is “particularly beneficial” to patients who are managing chronic conditions, taking multiple medications, or have limited health insurance benefits.
GoodRx President and CEO Wendy Burns said in a statement that as healthcare costs rise, consumers are looking for “a trusted solution that provides greater control and clear value.”
“The Company is responding to that demand with a strategy to build deeper, more recurring consumer relationships across our growing portfolio of subscription products,” Barnes said. “This is where we believe the market is heading, and where we believe GoodRx is uniquely positioned to lead.”
The company says it has about 25 million annual users and has helped save more than $100 billion in drug costs since 2011.
GoodRx has focused on GLP-1 drugs in recent months as demand continues to rise, adding the high-dose Wegovy injection and Eli Lilly’s oral drug Foundayo to its platform.
The company also launched an Employer Direct program in February that allows employers to offer lower-cost branded products to their employees.
