Sartorius launches Cubis® III, the latest innovation in its premium line of laboratory balances, enabling compliant, connected weighing without relying on additional software typically required to bridge instruments and laboratory systems. Cubis® III integrates directly into any digital ecosystem with built-in connectivity, native compliance features, and configurable on-instrument workflows to simplify validation, IT efforts, and long-term maintenance.

Balances are a critical data source for compliance-driven labs. However, many setups rely on additional middleware layers to meet regulations. Cubis® III handles compliance and connectivity on the instrument, giving labs the option to integrate and connect directly from the device. ”

Eszter Paldy, Product Management Premium Weighing Solutions Manager, Sartorius

Cubis® III offers a standards-based direct connection, allowing you to securely transmit weighing data into your existing information environment. Built-in OPC UA server and support for enterprise protocols such as HTTPS, FTPS, and SMB enable direct integration into LIMS, ELN, and CDS without the need for custom point-to-point solutions. Role-based access control and LDAP integration bring enterprise IT practices to the device and support secure user management across the Balanced fleet.

Compliance functionality is fully integrated into the equipment. On-device audit trails and electronic signatures support 21 CFR Part 11 requirements as well as guided pharmacopeia-compliant weighing workflows to ensure consistency across sites and users. A digitized cleaning workflow (Cleaning QApp) captures cleaning with authenticated sign-off, improving documentation and traceability without the need for additional paperwork.

By removing dependence on standalone middleware, Cubis® III reduces the scope of systems that need to be installed, certified and maintained, streamlining lifecycle management and making it easier to rebalance your fleet over time. High accuracy is achieved even with small sample volumes, supporting efficient use of valuable materials.

With two packages, Cubis® III and Cubis® III Max, Sartorius allows laboratories to choose the level of data processing and workflow sophistication that best suits their needs today, while maintaining the flexibility to expand functionality over time through additional workflows and integrations. For labs facing increasing demands for compliance, data governance, cost control, and more, the Cubis® III Lab Balance provides a scalable foundation for a more connected, efficient, and future-ready lab.
