NASA’s Psyche spacecraft successfully flew close to Mars by using the planet’s gravity to gain speed and change course towards the asteroid Psyche. On May 15, the spacecraft passed within 2,864 miles (4,609 kilometers) of the surface of Mars, receiving significant gravity assistance without using additional onboard fuel. This maneuver sends Psyche on a direct route to a target in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Eating more legume and soy foods may lower your risk of developing high blood pressure, according to a large new analysis published in an open access journal. BMJ Nutrition Prevention and Health. Researchers have found that people who regularly consume foods such as beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, edamame, and soy milk are less likely to develop high blood pressure. Researchers at the University of Southern California have identified an experimental compound that may help reduce brain inflammation associated with Alzheimer’s disease. The research results were published in the journal Nature npj drug discoveryfocuses on an enzyme called calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 (cPLA2), which appears to play an important role in inflammation in the brain. The USC team linked elevated cPLA2 activity to Alzheimer’s risk while studying people with the APOE4 gene, the strongest known genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) have developed a small, seed-sized robot that can move over soft, uneven surfaces and perform five surgical functions wirelessly.
