AnalytiChem, a manufacturer of specialty laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables, has launched a new addition to its portfolio of high-quality Redipor® microbiological preparation media. The new Redipor Legionella Agar Plate Series offers a range of ready-to-use selective media options. They are created to support an ISO 11731-compliant Legionella culture workflow, allowing enumeration of Legionella bacteria that cause Legionnaires’ disease. Bacteria as colony forming units (CFU) for regulatory reporting.

AnalytiChem’s new Redipor Legionella media range covers the complete culture pathway required for ISO-compliant testing, ensuring reliable recovery, quality control, and compliance with international standards. This makes it ideal for use in laboratories and organizations responsible for water safety and regulatory compliance, such as environmental, public health, and industrial monitoring laboratories and water utilities.

Redipor Legionella Media provides a comprehensive ISO 11731-compliant medium designed for parallel plating in non-selective and selective media to maximize recovery across a variety of environmental sample types, as required by ISO 11731. Plate options include BCYE (buffered charcoal yeast extract) with growth factors and selection agents, GVPC (glycine vancomycin polymyxin cycloheximide) and MWY (modified Wadowsky-Yee) agar variants (PdB1.1)(GP1.2), and cysteine-free options for comparative studies.

Each Redipor medium in the new product family has a distinct role within the Legionella culture workflow: non-selective recovery (BCYE), selective separation (GVPC, MWY), and cysteine-dependent confirmation. AnalytiChem experts can advise on the right combination for your application, from testing clinical respiratory specimens (BAL, sputum, etc.) to testing a variety of environmental waters and heavily contaminated environmental samples such as biofilms and cooling tower sludge.

Culture is an internationally recognized reference method for the detection, enumeration and confirmation of Legionella in water systems and forms the basis for regulatory compliance and outbreak investigation. Our new suite of ready-to-use Ladypol Legionella agar plates is designed to make this workflow simple, consistent, and ISO 11731 compliant. It is a benchmark international reference method for Legionella detection and supports official investigations and reporting. ”

Nico van Stallen, Segment Director, Life Sciences and Lab Essentials, AnalytiChem

AnalytiChem’s Redipor ready-to-use culture media range supports critical applications in water testing, as well as in the pharmaceutical quality control, food and beverage, and healthcare sectors.
