Counsel Health, an artificial intelligence-powered virtual care company, is enhancing its clinical services, including lifestyle and chronic disease services.
The expansion will initially focus on lifestyle diseases such as hair loss and sexual health, with plans to expand to include chronic diseases in the second half of 2026, including services to address high cholesterol and obesity.
If the chatbot recommends seeing a doctor, the user can pay $29 to schedule a follow-up care appointment. According to the company’s announcement, members of Counsel Signature, the company’s annual membership plan, will be able to use the enhanced features at no additional charge.
The company aims to transform healthcare delivery by relying on chat-based care while reducing the cost of care. Counsel made its AI chatbot free to consumers in October with the announcement of $25 million in Series A funding.
According to the CDC, approximately 75% of adults in the United States have at least one chronic condition, and more than 50% have at least two or more chronic conditions. According to Counsel Health, this puts “ongoing pressure on an already well-sustained health care system.”
A March 2026 analysis by Vizient found that the 11% of the U.S. population with multiple chronic conditions will account for 52% of hospitalization claims in 2025. Seventy-two percent of these hospitalizations were covered by Medicare and an additional 10% by Medicaid.
Dr. Rishi Kakhar, Counsel Health’s chief medical officer, said in the announcement that the company’s model is “designed for the modern healthcare era.”
“This expansion allows us to treat a wider range of conditions while maintaining clinical rigor and continuity,” Kakkar said. “Patients can check in at any time, receive instant medical advice, connect with a doctor in minutes, and build long-term relationships that eliminate the friction of traditional care models.”
