Amazon is expanding its wellness program with two recently announced partnerships focused on nutritional therapy and sleep care.
The retail giant launched its Health Benefits Connector program in January 2024, aimed at connecting customers with virtual health benefits. Organizations involved in the program include Teladoc, Rula Health, Talkspace, Omada Health, and Hinge Health.
The most recent addition is the virtual sleep clinic Dreem Health.
Eligible customers can enroll in their care provider’s sleep services, including sleep diagnostics using Sunrise Group’s FDA-approved home sleep tests. According to an April 9 announcement, Dream Health will become the platform’s first sleep healthcare provider.
“As a customer-centric organization, our Health Benefits Connector is designed to help customers discover and access trusted health care services already provided by their insurance carrier or employer,” John Singerling, head of strategic growth and network development at Amazon Health Services, said in the announcement. “By connecting our customers with services like Dreem Health through the Health Benefits Connector, we make it easy to find care that supports better health outcomes.”
Berry Street, a nutrition therapy platform that uses artificial intelligence, also announced on March 31st that it will join Amazon’s program. The platform has a network of over 1,500 registered dietitians who provide nutritional therapy for weight loss, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and maternal health.
The partnership generally allows eligible customers to enroll in the company’s nutritional care at no out-of-pocket cost.
The company says users can meet virtually with a nutritionist and chat using the app, track meals using AI photo recognition, and synthesize data from labs and wearables. The platform will be expanded to include the ability to prescribe medications and prescribe tests to patients.
“Most Americans battling obesity and other chronic diseases are already paying for this life-changing care, they just don’t know it. Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector solves the discovery problem, and we solve the clinical problem,” Noah Kotlub, founder and CEO of Berry Street, said in the announcement. “Berry Street is building a health care system that brings something that has been desired for a long time: world-class nutritional guidance literally in your pocket 24/7.”
