IWD is an annual event that celebrates women’s achievements and raises awareness of gender equality. In 2026, IWD will celebrate 115 years of raising awareness against discrimination and taking action to build gender equality.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. By giving women equal access to leadership opportunities, Bedfont® has built a diverse and balanced team. Today, women make up 50% of the workforce and nearly half of the company’s 18 managers, proving that inclusion has measurable benefits for both employees and performance.
Switzerland is a leader in medical technology, with women making up 40% of the industry’s workforce. However, a study published in 2024 found that of Europe’s 78 largest medical device companies, only 24.4% of leadership positions were held by women, highlighting the continued need for greater gender equality at senior levels.
In a world where women in business have far more opportunities than in the time of our ancestors, we are now seeing women actively driving the future of medical technology through innovation, leadership, and scientific excellence. We are very proud that almost half of Bedfont’s management team are women. This is clear evidence that inclusion drives both performance and progress. Representation is important, not only within our industry, but also for the next generation of audiences.
As a mother of two daughters, I want them to grow up to be proud, strong, and confident enough to make their own mark in science, technology, and other fields. This International Women’s Day, with this year’s theme “Give to Gain,” we recognize that by investing in, training, and advocating for women, we are shaping the future of health technology and making a lasting impact on generations to come. ”
