BYK-Gardner USA, a subsidiary of specialty chemicals group ALTANA, will acquire perisens GmbH. The company, based in Feldkirchen near Munich, develops and manufactures measurement and testing equipment for automotive radar sensors and radar covers, known as radomes.

These measuring and testing systems are used for quality assurance of painted plastic auto parts for vehicles equipped with radar sensors for autonomous driving. This ensures that the paint system used does not unduly attenuate the radar signal and impair radar functionality.
With this acquisition, ALTANA’s BYK division strategically expands its measurement and test equipment business and expands its product portfolio to include innovative technologies in the field of radar measurement. Founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, Perisense will be integrated into BYK-Gardner, headquartered in Geretsried, Bavaria.
Patented technology for laboratory measurement equipment
With the Radam measurement systems of the RMS-C and RMS-D product series, perisens offers radar radome solutions from development to quality control in series production. These RMS systems have been used worldwide since 2014 by major car manufacturers, radar sensor suppliers, plastic parts suppliers, and even paint and pigment manufacturers.
Perisens’ patented technology can be used both in laboratory measuring instruments and in measuring cells in robot-controlled production lines. Perisens products enable precise process control of plastic coated plastic auto parts.
Integration of measurement technology at BYK
As part of the acquisition, employees working at Perisen will be transferred to BYK.
