Amazon Pharmacy works with digital prescribing platform eNAvvi to provide clinicians with real-time drug information and delivery options through electronic prescribing workflows.
The partnership will allow health care providers to see current prices and availability of prescriptions, including cash prices and estimated insurance copays, and can indicate how quickly medications can reach patients, the companies said. The goal of this partnership is to support medication adherence and increase access for patients, especially those in “pharmacy deserts.”
eNavvi CEO Simon Chan said in a statement that the partnership “fundamentally changes what doctors can see and do at the moment of prescription.”
“Transparent pricing, real-time inventory status, and direct routing to Amazon Pharmacy mean better decision-making and fewer barriers between patients and the medicines they need,” said Chan.
Amazon’s digital pharmacy offers 24/7 access to qualified pharmacists and same-day and next-day delivery. Same-day prescription delivery is currently available in about 3,000 cities and towns across the U.S. and plans to expand to about 4,500 cities and towns by the end of 2026, the online retail giant said.
Prime members can save an additional 80% off on generic drugs and also have the opportunity to join Amazon Pharmacy’s $5/month subscription program, which offers over 60 generic drugs at no additional cost.
“Amazon Pharmacy is committed to providing a transparent pharmacy experience that removes the friction that prevents patients from getting their prescribed medications reliably,” Tanvi Patel, vice president and general manager of Amazon Pharmacy, said in a statement. “By integrating eNavvi directly into prescription workflows, we are empowering clinicians and patients to make informed decisions about their health. We know that when patients have convenient access to their medications, they are more likely to take them and live healthier lives.”
In May, Amazon Pharmacy also announced it would offer Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic tablets for same-day delivery or pick-up at One Medical kiosks across the United States.
