NYU Langone Health continues to earn the nation’s top ratings for patient safety and quality for the sixth year in a row, joining just 1% of hospitals nationwide to earn an A rating for the 12th year in a row from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization focused on health care safety and quality.
The A rating applies to Tisch Hospital and Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion in Manhattan, NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, and NYU Langone Hospital on Long Island. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital Suffolk maintained its B Leapfrog grade, continuing its strong performance following its merger with NYU Langone Hospital a little more than a year ago. Leapfrog grades are published twice a year.
Safe, high-quality care is the foundation of NYU Langone Health. Our 12th consecutive A rating from Leapfrog reflects the dedication of the more than 54,000 people across our health system who work every day to put patients first. We are also proud of the great work New York University Langone Hospital (Suffolk) does as we continue to expand services and quality improvements for our community. ”
Alec C. Kimmelman, MD, NYU Langone Dean and CEO
The Leapfrog Group evaluates approximately 3,000 acute care hospitals nationwide through 30 evidence-based patient safety performance measures, including prevention of medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other potential harm to patients. Hospitals across the country are assigned grades based on their performance on these measures. These grades are peer-reviewed, completely transparent, and freely available to the public. Just over 38 percent of hospitals in the U.S. and just 32 percent of New York state hospitals earned an A grade in the spring 2026 survey.
