Amazon One Medical has launched a GLP-1 managed program that integrates primary care, pharmacy services, and virtual care options to simplify the patient experience.
The program aims to address common GLP-1 pitfalls, such as fragmented care and opaque costs, by integrating GLP-1 management into a patient’s broader primary care relationship and combining care with Amazon Pharmacy. GLP-1 management program is now available at One Medical locations across the United States
“Providing customers with fast, convenient access to medications and clear, transparent pricing is essential for Amazon Pharmacy to transform the pharmacy experience,” Tanvi Patel, vice president and general manager of Amazon Pharmacy, said in a press release. “Expanding access to the latest GLP-1 medicines with up-front, clear pricing makes it easier for customers to get the treatments prescribed by their healthcare providers and stick with them by ensuring they are delivered directly to patients.”
Managing GLP-1 through primary care can also help proactively manage how weight loss relates to cardiovascular health, metabolic status, and overall health, the announcement said. Through this program, patients receive pre-visit screening, consultation, and regular follow-up with integrated monitoring. It was not immediately clear from the press release what this monitoring meant.
Amazon Pharmacy offers oral GLP-1 tablets from Wegovy and Foundayo. For both oral medications, insurance coverage starts at $25 per month and cash payments start at $149 per month. Also available are Wegovy injectables, Zepbound auto-injectors, and KwikPen, with cash payments starting at $299 per month. All medications can be shipped quickly to all 50 states, with same-day delivery available in nearly 3,000 cities. This option is expected to expand to approximately 4,500 cities by the end of 2026.
Patients in the GLP-1 program receive prescription renewals through their primary care physician. People who are not primary care patients at One Medical but already have a prescription can receive on-demand telehealth prescription renewals. Message consultations start at $29 and video consultations start at $49.
Customers can compare prices for insurance and cash payments at checkout, and manufacturer coupons are automatically applied on eligible purchases. The company says Amazon Pharmacy customers have saved more than $200 million through its automated coupon program.
As of earlier this year, One Medical members also have access to an agent-based AI health assistant, Health AI, that can answer medical questions, walk you through your health records, manage prescription renewals, and make appointments. When specialized care is needed, Health AI can connect patients directly to One Medical providers via message, video, or in-person. For prescription renewals, you can submit a request to your patient’s One Medical provider. One Medical membership is not required for scheduled in-person or remote appointments.
