Sartorius announces the launch of CellCelector CLD, an automated imaging and cell separation platform designed to simplify and accelerate monoclonal cell line development (CLD) development. A combination of high-speed scanning, advanced imaging, and gentle clone searching allows scientists to quickly identify, validate, and isolate the most promising clones while preserving viability and ensuring reliable documentation.

What used to take months can now be completed in about seven weeks. CellCelector CLD features full traceability at every step, giving teams the confidence to move from screening to stable, high-producing cell lines faster than standard workflows. ”

The CellCelector CLD performs high-speed automated scanning to detect monoclonal wells and track clonal growth over time. Dedicated imaging delivers consistent, high-quality results for even the most challenging targets, allowing you to confidently screen across large candidate pools. When combined with Sartorius’ next-generation CLD nanowell plates, which are equivalent to 885 standard 96-well plates, this platform screens large pools of candidates and delivers 40% more monoclonal wells and more than three times higher clonal expansion than standard nanowell plates. Up to 15,000 monoclonality-verified clones are available for selection in just 4 days.
Once top clones are identified, the system supports gentle isolation with up to 100% transduction efficiency and viability, protecting valuable cell lines for downstream expansion. Integrated EMA 410-compliant productivity assays ensure that all selection decisions are traceable, giving research teams the regulatory confidence they need from day one.
CellCelector CLD is part of Sartorius’ extensive cell line development ecosystem, bringing together instruments, consumables, reagents, and media into a single, consistent workflow. For bioprocess teams under pressure to move faster, reduce costs, and meet regulatory standards, this represents a meaningful advancement in automated CLD capabilities.
