Perma Pure and Maxtec today announced that they will combine under a new parent company, Salaera, to form a global technology platform specializing in breathing and gas system integrity. This move creates one of the industry’s most comprehensive platforms for respiratory care, diagnostics, life sciences, air quality monitoring, and industrial gas analysis, leading the market with the growing demand for accurate, connected, and data-rich systems.

For more than 50 years, Perma Pure has been a global authority in gas conditioning, built on proprietary Nafion™ polymer technology and a robust component portfolio, used in critical applications around the world. The clinical standard in oxygen analysis and delivery, Maxtec delivers decades of reliable device performance across both medical and non-medical applications found in NICUs, ICUs, and other hospital and healthcare environments.

By integrating these companies with Bird® MicroBlender, Clayborn thermal control technology and Baldwin conditioning systems, Salaera offers a comprehensive gas path portfolio. This end-to-end expertise creates dual-path capabilities, delivering both custom-designed systems and proven, ready-to-ship devices within a single integrated platform.

Changes in the industry highlight the timing of this consolidation. Breath-based diagnostics are expanding as a source of non-invasive biomarkers for respiratory diseases, metabolic conditions, and infectious pathogens. As hospitals implement connected monitoring systems, clinical equipment will require greater accuracy. Environmental and industrial markets face ongoing regulatory and reporting requirements, making high-fidelity gas analysis more important than ever.

Salaera’s vision is to redefine what’s possible in respiratory and gas technology by leveraging innovation for global health. We are committed to advancing the science of breathing and air, ensuring that every system we create provides clarity, precision, and reliability, whether in a hospital, laboratory, or environmental setting. By bringing together decades of expertise into one platform, we enable our partners to protect the integrity of every breath and foster a future where air truly brings health and insight to everyone. ”

    Kathy Ouellette, CEO of Salaera™

A brand designed for the next era of health and air intelligence

As a Halma company, Salaera is well-positioned to accelerate innovation across applications in this space. The new name is derived from the Latin root meaning “airborne health” and reflects the company’s vision to advance global health through air-focused innovation.

The company’s new visual identity reinforces this concept with a motif of molecular motifs that transform raw air into insights, capturing how Salaela stabilizes, reconciles, and prepares exhaled breath and gas data for clinical, scientific, and environmental decision-making.

That clarity of purpose applies directly to how Salaera supports companies designing and manufacturing complex breathing and gas systems. Operating as an integrated platform, Salaera works with partners and OEMs from concept to commercialization to protect the integrity of the gas path.

We support critical systems around the world. ” said Megan Young, Chief Commercial Officer. “When OEMs partner with us, they benefit from a dedicated engineering collaborator with over 50 years of experience. Our advanced solutions support our partners every step of the way, ensuring reliable integrity breathing and gas systems that truly make a difference.”

“This is a strategic turning point.” Ouellette added. “Our new corporate structure reflects our belief that the future of human health is shaped by what we can understand through the air. Our vision is to be a global catalyst for non-invasive respiratory health innovation and clean air solutions. This next chapter will build on a legacy of which we are very proud.”
