Sunbow, a family-building software platform, is launching what it calls the first AI-powered egg freezing success program in the fertility space.
The program’s goal is to resolve the uncertainties associated with fertility preservation, from lack of financial transparency to unknown and unguaranteed outcomes. Based on the patient’s biometric data, Sunbow’s proprietary algorithm predicts the optimal amount of mature eggs to freeze and the cost of the cycle.
“Sunbow is really focused on helping people navigate the entire fertility journey,” Sunbow co-founder and CEO Angela Rastegar told Fierce Healthcare in an advanced interview. “Patients don’t have to become unpaid project managers for their family planning.”
Sunfish also take risks. If the patient does not reach the number of eggs retrieved within the guaranteed budget, Sunfish will cover the cost of additional cycles. Includes a 1-year storage period with discounts on long-term storage options and a lowest drug price match guarantee.
Sunfish works with IVF clinics, egg banks, fertility pharmacies, sperm banks, and surrogacy agencies. All clinics are vetted and members must attend one to take advantage of the Sunfish program. Its AI is built on historical datasets from multiple clinics containing more than 2 million data points, including egg and sperm donor biomarkers and outcome data. It was backtested against 20,000 clinical cycles and achieved 97% accuracy over thousands of randomized simulations.
Ms. Rastegar previously served as a director at Northstar Fertility, which operates multiple surrogacy agency brands. She was frustrated that patients “lack of logistical support, guidance, clear data, and financial support.” She recalled how some patients had to sell their engagement rings to pay for treatment or postpone buying a home.

Rastegar herself has frozen her eggs multiple times. “It was a really stressful process, not just financially, but what really surprised me was that I had become this full-time project manager trying to get through my treatment,” she said.
Patients have access to the Sunfish Dashboard with medically backed guidance, as well as a human care coordinator and financial support. Members also have access to prenatal vitamins, post-retrieval recovery, nurse injection support, mental health coaching and more. Sunfish offers 100% eligibility regardless of age, diagnosis, or insurance status. Package prices start at $8,100, which includes all clinical care components, although insurance benefits may apply for components such as tests and medications.
The startup was founded in 2022 and has been running successful IVF programs since 2024. The company’s patients have a nearly 71% success rate in achieving pregnancy and graduating from the program to become obstetricians and gynecologists. The national average transfer success rate in 2023 was about 54%, according to Rastegar’s calculations based on publicly available data reviewed by Fierce Healthcare. Prices for IVF packages start at $18,500, and the company also offers 0% APR financing for patients who need financing options. The cost of one cycle of IVF in the United States can range from $15,000 to $20,000 or more.
“We need to stop thinking of infertility treatment and fertility preservation as a perk or something that only certain people can afford. It really is a critical infrastructure for our society,” Rastegar said.
